In 2015 Matthew moved into private practice by joining Phase 2 Planning and Development Ltd as a Senior Planning Consultant and quickly built up a vast and diverse portfolio of projects and cliental which he continues to manage and evolve today. This includes professional planning work on behalf of both national and local housebuilders, investment corporations and individual landowners. Matthew’s expertise, commitment, hard work and client-focused approach has enabled him to be recognised as both a Principal Planner and more recently an Associate at Phase 2 Planning, a position he currently holds with authority.
In consultancy Matthew has rapidly progressed his professional expertise and experience covering the full range of planning matters including guiding proposals through the complex planning application and appeal process as well as in enforcement and Local Plan promotion matters. He has provided expert evidence at Appeal Hearings and has been responsible for advising various clients on their proposals and maximising and managing many proposed development opportunities through the planning process achieving successful outcomes for his clients. This has included Matthew advising on the most beneficial planning strategies where desired outcomes are severely tested. Matthew’s key recent wins include securing planning permission for major new residential and commercial development with major residential consents being achieved both in Green Belt locations and as functional urban extensions to existing settlements. Notably this has included comprehensive development strategies utilising the full provisions of Planning Law in proving such complex cases with one of Matthew’s results being highlighted nationally within the planning press.
