Diablo has worked alongside Uncle Buck since its inception in 2002 when it was responsible for the creation of the original brand materials and design direction.
Our role is to act as a supporting consultant and assist with the translation of the brand throughout an ever expanding range of media components.
The original concept was to create a friendly, approachable brand centred around trust and responsibility. It was important that the design environment was not exclusive, over corporate or clinical.
The lending marketing has become saturated in recent years creating many homogenised brands that are happy to follow suit or trend.
With this in mind an illustrative direction was developed in order to establish brand recognition and create distinction over direct competition.
From the outset the brand was designed to be character driven. The Uncle mascot was developed to embody the company’s core values and help provide a face without resorting to clichéd and obviously staged photography.
The mascot offered improved longevity over traditional imagery and good overall flexibility as it could easily adapt to new situations.
The brand colour palette was deliberately restricted tonally. Utilising a range of greens to create a fresh design environment but also evoking bank notes and the aspect of being in the ‘green’ and therefore in control.
A strong and opposing accent colour was chosen to highlight campaign statements or ‘call to action’ areas.
THE CONCEPT WAS TO CREATE A FRIENDLY, APPROACHABLE BRAND CENTRED AROUND TRUST AND RESPONSIBILITY
Application of the brand is wide and encompasses; brand guidelines, stationery, on an offline advertising, internal/external banners, posters and signage, corporate and investor literature, PowerPoint slide deck, promotional and marketing materials, brand components and guidance to support web development and social media environments.
